BARBARESCO RIO SORDO

GRAPES: 100% NEBBIOLO SUBVARIETIES “MICHET” & “LAMPIA”

The Wine: Musso Barbaresco “Rio Sordo" is made of 100% Nebbiolo grapes, a blend of Michet and Lampia subvarietals. Fermentation, both alcoholic and malolactic is conducted under temperature controlled cellars, which might be the most significant improvement. Stainless steel vats are essential and the must has shorter contact with the skins for less than a month. The wine is then aged for approximately 2 years, part of it in oak barrels and part in chestnut ones.

Tasting Notes:Musso Barbaresco “Rio Sordo” has a deep ruby red color with garnet tinges. The intense fruity bouquet, with scents of blackberries and raspberries, introduces notes of mushroom and earth.  A luscious dry, full-textured red with harmonious good balance of acidity and gentle tannins gives way to a pleasant, silky smooth finish. This Barbaresco is best suited for pasta dishes with savory sauces as well as baked fennel ham, roasted loin of pork with risotto, roasted turkey with wild mushroom and chestnut stuffing, braised lamb with butternut squash polenta and aged cheeses.  

BARBARESCO PORA

NEBBIOLO

The Wine: Musso Nebbiolo is made of 100% Nebbiolo grapes. Fermentation is conducted in temperature controlled stainless steel vats for 12-13 days. The wine then ages in French oak barriques for 7-8 months. Nebbiolo rests in bottle for 5 months before being placed on the market.

Tasting Notes: Nebbiolo has a deep ruby red color. It has an intense bouquet with scents of spices and cinnamon and aromas of red berries. Luscious dry, with harmonious good balance of acidity and gentle tannins. Nebbiolo is a good match for pasta dishes with savory sauces, roasted red meats, pork roast and cheeses. 

 

 
DOLCETTO D'ALBA

Stainless steel vats are essential and the must has shorter contact with the skins for less than a month.  This is an important factor in the more accessible styles of wines that manage to maintain size and structure while showing better harmony of bouquet and flavor.

Tasting Notes: Musso Barbera d’Alba has a deep ruby red color which gets garnet hues as it ages. It offers a penetrating but delicate fruity bouquet with scents of wild berries and dried fruit, developing into delicate vanilla and oak aromas. A luscious dry, light-textured red wine with harmonious good balance of acidity and gentle tannins gives way to a pleasant, flavorful bittersweet aftertaste. This Barbera is a good match for pasta dishes with light meat sauces as well as grilled chicken, pork roasts, wild game and aged cheeses.

ARNEIS

 

GRAPES:  100% ARNEIS

The Wine: Musso Roero Arneis is made of 100% Arneis grapes planted in the Santo Stefano Roero area. Fermentation, both alcoholic and malolactic, is conducted in temperature controlled cellars. Stainless steel vats are essential and the must has shorter contact with the skins for approximately two months. This is an important factor in the more accessible styles of wines that manage to maintain size and structure while showing better harmony of bouquet and flavor.

Tasting Notes: Musso Roero Arneis is straw yellow in color with greenish hues. Hints of flowers such as acacia and chamomile plus aromas of apple and hazelnut are found on the nose followed by a dry, well-defined finish.  This wine is ideal as an aperitif or to accompany light hors d’oeuvres, white meats, fish, and pastas with vegetable sauce.
