Ferruccio Deiana

SILENO

GRAPES: 100% CANNONAU

                   

The Wine: Sileno was the name of the Satyr of Bacchus. It is made of 100% Cannonau grapes hand picked in mid September. After the fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for about 12 days, the wine ages in French oak barriques for 8 months. Sileno is then refined in bottle before being placed on the market.

 

Tasting Notes: Sileno has a deep ruby red color. The nose expresses intense aromas of blackberry and raspberry with hints of oak and spices. It is smooth and persistent on the palate. This wine pairs well with roasted red meats, wild game and aged cheeses. 

AJANA

GRAPES: 50% CANNONAU, 30% CARIGNANO, 20% BOVALE

 

The Wine: “Ajana” means “Deiana” in Sardinian dialect. This wine is made of 50% Cannonau, 30% Carignano and 20% Bovale grapes, carefully selected and hand-picked at the end of September. After a soft pressing of the grapes, the maceration takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel vats for 15 days. The wine then ages in 225lt French oak barriques for a period of 18 months and is refined in bottle for 3 months before being placed on the market.

 

Tasting Notes: Ajana has brilliant ruby red color. It has an intense fruity bouquet with scents of spices and red fruits. A full-bodied wine with gentle tannins. This wine pairs well with pasta with savory sauces, roasted red meats, wild game and aged cheeses. 

KAREL

GRAPES: 100% MONICA

                       

The Wine: Karel was once the name of the actual city Cagliari. It is made of 100% Monica grapes, hand harvested in mid September. The fermentation takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for 8 days. The wine then ages in stainless steel vats for 5/6 months. Karel is then refined in bottle before being placed on the market.

 

Tasting Notes: Karel has an intense ruby red color with purple hues. The palate expresses an intense fruity bouquet. This medium bodied is an excellent match for pasta with savory sauces, red roasted meats and cheeses. 

ARVALI

GRAPES: 100% VERMENTINO

 

The Wine: “Arvali” takes the name from the “clergymen” that dedicated themselves to the cult of the Goddess Dia. This wine is made of 100% Vermentino grapes. The grapes are hand-picked at the end of September and gently pressed. After the fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts, the wine ages in stainless steel vats for about 3-4 months. Arvali is then refined in bottle before being placed on the market.

 

Tasting Notes: Arvali has a yellow straw color. On the nose expresses an intense fruity bouquet with aromatic notes. Dry and persistent on the palate, this wine pairs well with grilled meat and fish or as an aperitif. 

DONNIKALIA

GRAPES: 100% VERMENTINO

 

The Wine: The word “Donnikalia” comes from the fusion of two words: “Donnu” that means  Feudal Lord in Sardinian dialect and “Kalia” that means real estate in ancient Greek.  The Donnikalia, the owner of a series of estates, was very popular in Sardinia during the Medieval times. This wine is exclusively made of 100% Vermentino grapes carefully selected and hand-picked at the end of August. The fermentation takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel vats. The wine is the refined in bottle before being placed on the market.

 

Tasting Notes: Donnikalia has a yellow straw color with green hues. On the nose expresses notes of almond. It is dry, fresh, with aromas of fruits. Donnikalia pairs well with roasted meats, seafood and soups. 

PLUMINUS

GRAPES: 75% VERMENTINO, 25% NASCO

 

The Wine: The ancient city of Cagliari was once called “Pluminus” due to the location at the crossroads of three rivers: Mannu, Flumendosa, and Lixerri. This wine is made of 75% Vermentino grapes and 25% Nasco grapes. The harvest of the Nasco grapes starts at the end of August, as for the Vermentino grapes it begins at the beginning of September. The grapes are combined, gently pressed and fermented in small French oak barriques. The wine then ages in barriques for 6 months and refined in bottle for 2 months before being placed on the market.

 

Tasting Notes: Pluminus has a deep straw-yellow color with golden hues. This wine has a delicate and sweet scent, and a full, rich and mellow taste, with a pleasant fruity feel. It is wonderful with fish and white meats, and aged cheese. 

OIRAD

GRAPES: MOSCATO, MALVASIA, NASCO

                      
 

The Wine: “Oirad” is the the anagram of “Dario” Ferruccio Deiana’s son. This wine is made of Moscato, Malvasia and Nasco grapes carefully selected and hand-picked at the end of September. After a soft, the grapes macerate in temperature controlled stainless steel vats for a short period. The wine is then aged for about 3-4 months in stainless steel tanks and 45 days in small French oak barriques. Oirad rests in bottle before being placed on the market.

 

Tasting Notes: This elegant dessert or “meditation” wine seduces with its golden yellow color. It has an intense fruity bouquet with hints of honey and almond. On the palate it is sweet and smooth. An ideal way to end a meal and delight honored guests, especially if paired with desserts, biscotti, or cheeses.
