ASPIDE

  GRAPES: 100% NERELLO 

 

The Wine: This wine is made with 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes coming from nine-year-old vineyards with north-east exposure and wide climatic excursions between day and night. Carefully selected and hand-picked they undergo a soft pressing. The malolactic fermentation is completely allowed and the wine ages about 18/24 months in stainless steel tanks. It refines in bottle for about four months before being released on the market.

Tasting Notes: The name Aspide refers to small poisonous vipers very common in the Etna area. This beautiful wine features a bright ruby color with purple hues and red fruit fragrances with mouthwatering ripe marasca cherries. The palate is silky, round and extremely pleasant. A perfect match for roasted meats, game and pasta with flavorful sauces. 

SCIARAKÈ

 GRAPES: 100% NERELLO MASCALESE

 

The Wine: This wine is made of 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes coming from nine-year-old vineyards located in a specific area with north-east exposure and a volcanic soil particularly rich in minerals. Carefully selected and hand-picked they undergo a soft pressing. The malolactic fermentation is completely allowed and the wine ages about 18/24 months in stainless steel tanks. It refines in bottle for about five months before being released on the market.

Tasting Notes: Sciarakè is a fantasy name that reminds of the word “sciara” that in Sicilian dialect means volcanic soil. It features a warm ruby red color and sweet fragrances of red fruit. Smooth and silky on the palate with beautiful persistency and gentle tannins. Ideal with roasts, game, pasta with rich sauces and pungent cheeses.   

AITHOS

           GRAPES: 100% NERELLO MASCALESE

 

The Wine: This wine is made of 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes coming from eight-year old vines planted in the volcanic soil of Mt. Etna that is rich in minerals.  After controlled temperature maceration and fermentation, the wine is aged in medium-sized oak and acacia barrels for approximately 24 months.  It is refined in bottle for between five and eight months before being released into the market.

Tasting Notes: Aithos is cherry red in color with a blend of red berry fruits on the nose, such as blackberries, blueberries and raspberries.  It is complex and full-bodied on the palate with well-balanced tannins and a long finish.  It pairs well with all types of meat dishes and aged cheeses. 

  

NAUSÌCA

  GRAPES: 60% CATARRATTO, 40% CARRICANTE

 

The Wine: This wine is made of a perfect blend of Catarratto and Carricante grapes grown on a volcanic soil rich in minerals. They undergo a peculiar maceration to enhance their aromatic qualities. The wine rests in bottle for about three months before being released on the market.

Tasting Notes: Nausìca owes its name to Odissey’s beautiful character symbol of hospitality. This delightful white features a golden yellow color with greenish hues. The nose offers refreshing fruit notes with hints of citrus. The mouth is full and persistent with more fruit. Ideal with seafood, grilled white meats and pasta with delicate sauces. 

ISOLANUDA

  GRAPES: 65% CARRICANTE, 35% CATARRATTO

 

The Wine: This wine is made of a perfect blend of Carricante and Catarratto grapes coming from nine-year-old vineyards with north-east exposure and wide climatic excursions between day and night. The harvest takes place at the end of October when the grapes are softly pressed and allowed to undergo a cold maceration on the lees to enhance their aromatic characteristics. The fermentation process occurs at controlled temperature for about 10 days. The wine rests in stainless steel tanks for 4 months and about 2 months in bottle before being released on the market.

Tasting Notes: The name Isolanuda, naked island, is the title of a book by Gesualdo Bufalino dedicated to Sicily. This elegant white features a delicate yellow color with golden hues. The nose is refined and delivers floral and fruity notes. On the palate it is strong and caressing with fruity richness and perfect acidity on the finish. Ideal with seafood, grilled white meats and pasta with delicate sauces.
